Wesley B. Compton, 77 of Bolivia, NC and formerly of Carolina Beach, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 following a long battle with cancer.
He was born July 6, 1934, and was preceded in death by his parents William and Aldane Compton and a daughter, Debra Riley.
Wesley was retired from the US Postal Service and was a Korean Veteran of the US Army. He was a member and Past Master of Federal Point Lodge # 753 A.F. & A.M., and the Sudan Shriners. A member of the Bolivia Lions Club, served as an Alderman for the town of Bolivia, and formerly served on the Board of Adjustments for the town of Carolina Beach.
Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Patricia Compton; eight children, Robert Compton, Catherine Gray, Glenda Wilson, Lois Carpenter, William Compton, Lora Pender, and Susan Pender; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Harold Compton, and Donald Compton; four sisters, Elaine Anderson, Mary Ann Bryant, Willene Minnick, and Doris Grove. A memorial service will be held 11 am Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 3909 17 bypass, Bolivia, NC. A reception will follow at the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
