Obituary: Pauline Pierce Creech

Pauline Pierce Creech, 92, of Carolina Beach, NC, died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born on November 9, 1919 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Walter C. and Mattie Mae Williams Pierce.
Also remembered is her husband of sixty-three years, Ernest Creech, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2002.
Pauline met William E. Creech “Ernest” when she was seventeen years old and they were married three years later on December 25, 1939.
They moved to Carolina Beach in April of 1942 and Pauline began her career in the Postal Service on November 1, 1942.
She served as clerk until March 6, 1971 when she began her role as Postmaster at the Carolina Beach Post Office.  She retired in 1977 after thirty-five years of service.  She loved her work and enjoyed meeting the people.
Mrs. Creech was the longest standing member of First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach.  She joined the church on June 1, 1944 and immediately became very active.
For sixty-eight years she was a dedicated and faithful member lending her gifts and love to the church as a Sunday school teacher of the Ladies Class for many years as well as being the Church Clerk, a member of the WMU and helping with Vacation Bible School.
Mrs. Creech was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church in Columbus County.
Pauline loved her church and was grounded in her faith.  Prayer was her lifeline, especially these last ten years without Ernest.
Her dedication and service over the years have been instrumental in shaping the church and her legacy will continue to guide the church into the future.
Mrs. Creech also enjoyed the outdoors, especially helping her husband with the big gardens they used to have and working with him with his hobby of bee keeping.
Mrs. Creech touched a lot of lives in her ninety-two years and will always be remembered by so many as such a sweet and loving lady.
Surviving is her brother, Cecil Pierce of Mt. Mourne, NC and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
