Barbara Lee Pierce, 55, of Wilmington, died Saturday, August 4, 2012, in Southport, NC.
Barbara was born August 23, 1956 in Silver Spring, MD, daughter of Edith Lindimore Ogilvie and the late Robert Ogilvie. A daughter, Kellie Pierce, and a sister, Cheryl Ann Young, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ed Pierce; daughter, Michele Pierce; grandson, Caden Pierce, all of Wilmington; and a sister, Karen Allison, of Arizona.
For most of their marriage Barbara worked side-by-side with her husband, first operating a portrait photography studio in Potomac MD and for the last 15 years as the head of administration for their company, PhotoVision. They also traveled extensively, most of the time on a sailboat, which they captained themselves. Their sailing experiences took them to the Mediterranean, most of the Caribbean Islands and up and down the east coast of the United States. For the last eight years, she enjoyed her life in Wilmington where her surviving daughter was nearby and where she found joy participating in the upbringing of her grandson.
A funeral service will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Chaplain Anne Gordon officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service starting at 5:00 p.m. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012, in Park Lawn Memorial Park, in Rockville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to Dando Amor (www.dandoamor.org) or to the charity of one’s choice.
