Mr. Vance Carroll Walton, 85, died suddenly Sunday, September 16, 2012, at his home at Carolina Beach.
Vance was born in High Point, NC on April 16, 1927, a son to the late George and Bertha Quesinberry Walton.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Gladys Edwards Walton and two brothers, Dewey and Glenn Walton. He resided in Archdale before moving to Carolina Beach. Vance was employed with A and P Food Market as a meat manager until his retirement after several years of service. He was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII. Vance enjoyed growing his tomatoes, talking with his neighbors and playing on his computer. He was a kind man who embraced life and his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Faye Walton Lawing and her husband, Roger of Charlotte; one brother, Paul Walton and his wife, Ruth of High Point; one granddaughter, Staci Jacobs and her husband, Jason of Charlotte; and two great grandchildren, Brian and Sydney Jacobs.
A graveside service was held 2 PM, Thursday, September 20th at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point with Rev. Bobby Loving officiating. The family will receive friends follow the service at the cemetery.
