Nina Irene Birdsong, 83, of Wilmington, NC, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on March 4, 1929 in Lumberton, NC, the daughter of the late John Henry Lott and Bessie Davis Lott. She was preceded in death by her husband of over forty years, Charles Wayne Birdsong, in 2000.
Mrs. Birdsong was currently a bus monitor for the New Hanover County School System. She was the former owner and operator of Carolina Bingo on the Carolina Beach Boardwalk from 1972 through the mid 1980’s.
Surviving is her daughter, Michelle Birdsong McDonald of Wilmington; son-in-law, Timothy McDonald of Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren, Brandy Hall of Denver, CO, Jennifer McDonald and David McDonald, both of Sarasota, FL; one great-grandchild, Caleb Charles McDonald;
a stepson, William Wilcox of Illion, NY; a sister, Patricia Hatcher of Wilmington; two half-brothers, Kim Lott of Logan, VA and John Henry Lott of Norfolk, VA; and a nephew, Michael Lewis of Wilmington, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel. A graveside committal
will follow at 2:00 pm in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.
