Return To Four-Lanes On Lake Park Blvd Has Begun

Crews working for the North Carolina Department of Transportation began grinding up asphalt on Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach Tuesday April 24. The road will be resurfaced and returned to a four-lane traffic pattern. This follows a failed Road Diet implemented a couple of years ago reducing the road to two lanes with a center turn lane and bike paths behind diagonally parked cars. That resulted in massive congestion and public outcry.


Carolina Beach Fire Department Hosts Dinner For Little Pink Houses Of Hope

The Carolina Beach Fire Department hosted a dinner Monday April 23, for Little Pink Houses of Hope. A charitable organization that provides week long beach retreats via donated beach houses and volunteers in the Carolinas for breast cancer patients & their families.  They believe a cancer diagnosis does not just affect the patient, but the entire family.  Every beach retreat is designed to help families live stronger,  laugh harder, and love deeper. Road Resurfacing and Restriping of Lake Park Blvd to Begin April 23

Photo from file: March 19, 2011: Traffic was backed up from Harper Avenue to Carl Winner on Lake Park Blvd. just before 2PM. Prior to the summer season the Town was working on interim measures to relieve congestion resulting from the Road Diet lane-reduction they implemented spring 2010.  Last summer the Council voted to return the road to a four-lane pattern. The work will begin April 23.
