Congratulations to The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce who celebrates 75 years of being in business. It has not been an easy road but with many hard working directors, volunteers, both towns working together and Gail McCloskey the Chamber has reached the success it is today.
Gail originally started as a Volunteer putting in over 40 hours weekly. I knew then she was what the Chamber needed. It took a lot of dedication & pride in making the island a beautiful, fun and great place to live or have a business. Two former Directors who were instrumental in the Chambers growth were Ed Barnes & Michael McGowan.
They were hard working wonderful men and are truly missed. Ann & Joe Coen made the Auction a fantastic money maker with style & class. They give their all in everything they do. I personally would like to thank Camille Loreti who got me the job at the Chamber. She & former Mayor Tony Loreti volunteered endless hours for all the Chamber functions in the early years. While working for the Chamber there was one more volunteer that comes to mind that I would like to acknowledge who is Judy Mead. She worked many hours with the Auction, Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival, and anything else we needed help with. Thank you everyone!
I am so proud to have been a part of this wonderful Chamber and wish you continued growth & success in the coming years. Keep up the great work!
