Hook, Line and Sinker: Local Fishing Report and Photos for July 31, 2013

Capt Mike Harrison
Lucy’s Choice Bay Charters

Hey hey hey!  It’s a beautiful day!  I’m getting reports of lots of Red Drum in the area.
They’re biting well on live mullet and cut mullet.  Some are real tackle busters, so be prepared!  On the piers they’re picking up some small flounder, whiting, spadefish, a few spots, bluefish, croakers, a few black drum, sheepshead, stingrays, and sharks. the “usual suspects”.
In the surf catching red and black drum, flounder, bluefish, small pompano, stingrays, and sharks. In the waterways, bays, and river you’ll find red drum, flounder, black drum, sheepshead, speckled and gray trout,  A few nice size whiting, small cobia and lots of croakers, small black bass, sharks, and stingrays.
Be safe, use your sunscreen, and take a kid fishing!

Debra Duna weighed in this whopping 1.15# Croaker at Island Tackle & Hardware. She caught it near the river on Saturday!

Got-em-on Live Bait Club held their Lady Angler Tournament Saturday. Congratulations to all the ladies,  especially these winners with their catches of King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, Speckled Trout and Red Drum!

Jantzen's snagged this nice catch last month on Sunday 6/30 on a carolina rig using small pogies and fishing at Southport along the mudbanks south of the ferry.  The largest fish weighed 5.5, the second weighed 4.6 lb's and smallest weighed 2.8lbs.
