Hook, Line and Sinker: Local Fishing Report and Photos for November 20, 2013

Saturday night we (Lucy and I) attended the Got-em-on Live Bait Club’s end of year Holiday Party, and I woke up thinking it was in some ways like a fishing trip...  We had a really good time, didn’t bring home any fish, but nobody got hurt, and we didn’t break anything!  Seriously, we had a Great time! The event was held at the Arab Shrine Club on College Road.  The Shrine Club did all the cooking & serving and it was a delicious meal.  Got-em-on President, Capt. John Batson, was “right on” as the Master of Ceremonies.  John spoke some very kind words of appreciation to the many that make the club function, but especially to Dennis & Wanda Barbour and Freddie & Linda Holland, for all they do to support the club.  The Carolina Breakers Band played various kinds of music, and kept the dance floor full.  ‘Excellent party band!  During the band breaks, Capt John was able to take care of some “official business”, like handing out awards and introducing the Got-em-on Board of Directors for 2014.  The Top 10 anglers in this year’s Donnie Harrill Memorial Flounder Cup contest received their hard earned plaques, prizes, and applause.  They were:  (1) Devin Anderson, (2) Nick Scuorzo, (3) Jake Scuorzo, (4) Mike Coleman, (5) Neil Clark, (6) Ken Pearson, (7) Ted Connor, (8) Rusty Ramsey, (9) Bossy Fitzsimmons, and (10) Brecka Coleman.  Congratulations to every one of them.  (Oh, for the record, I was 31st  but I plan do better next year!)   Then, the 2014 Board was introduced:  Butch Martin, President; Bobby Gurganus, Vice President; April McDavid, Secretary; Mike Harrison, Treasurer.
Bottom line..  If you were there, you know it was a good party and a very special evening.  If you were not there,  ummm…  you missed a good one!  I’ll tell you more about Got-em-on Live Bait Club in the future.
Oh yea, the Fishing Report.   Red drum are still around, though not as active as previous weeks.  I’m seeing lots of Black drum and some flounder and trout from the river and bays.  Piers still catching good Sea Mullet.
Two days ago we had 30 degree temps and 30mph+ winds.  Yesterday it was flat calm and in the 70’s.  Just enjoy the weather, whatever it is.  Fish when you can.  Stay safe.
Wishing you the best,
Capt Mike Harrison
