Ashley High School Varsity & Junior Varsity Softball Review

Harrell & Adams combined for perfect game against Hoggard 10-0
for Senior Night, but falls to Laney 1-0 for Conference Title

• 5/1 – Ashley 10 Hoggard 0 - The Screaming Eagles Varsity Softball team not only picked up a win against cross town rival Hoggard High School, and shut them out 10-0. They also had a perfect game against them, as pitchers Crystal Harrell and Kaitlyn Adams struck out 4 and allowed no base runners. Crystal started the game and pitched 4 innings before Kaitlyn Admas came in for the last 3 outs. Offensivly the Eagles also had the bats going. The Ladies picked up a run in the 1st inning before having a big 2nd inning taking a 6-0 lead. The Ladies picked up 3 more in the 3rd inning and another on the 4th inning. The 10 runs was all the Eagles needed to end the game early and out the perfect game in the books. HIGHLIGHTS: Drew Dickson increased her batting average to .471 with her 2 for 3 performances picking up a run, a double and a triple; Sister Schae Dickson increased .her averaged of .472 after going 1 for 3 with a hit and a RBI; Morgan Thomas went 1 for 2 with a run; Crystal Harrell went 1 for 3 with a run; Taylor Carter also went 1 for 3 with 2 runs; Aliza Hollomen went 1 for 2 with 2 runs; Kaitlyn Adams went 1 for 2 with 1 run;  Allyson Blose went 1 for 2 with a run; and Bailey Williams had a run.
• 5/4 – Ashley 0 Laney 1- The Ladies came up short in their 1-0 loss to Laney for 1st Place in the Mid-Eastern Conference this past Friday Night. The Ladies had trouble getting a hit off Laney’s Madi Johnston, picking up just two hits in the game. This was definitely a pitcher’s duel with only 7 hits and no unearned runs that saw 5 scoreless innings. The lone run in the game cam in the bottom of the 5th inning when Laney scored on a sacrifice bunt, a single and a ground out which drove in the run.
The Screaming Eagles finished out their Regular Season with a 16-5 Overall Record and were 8-2 in Conference Play which put them in 2nd Place behind Laney 19-3 and 10-0. The Ladies will be playing Clayton on Friday at home starting at 6PM.
