Ashley Varsity & Junior Varsity Baseball Review

• 5/1 – Ashley 2 Hoggard 9 – Ashley scattered four hits on Tuesday, but weren't able to push enough runs across, and lost 9-2 to Hoggard at Ashley.
Christian Wolfe was solid at the plate for Ashley. Wolfe went 1-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first inning.
Clayton McGee handled Hoggard's lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. McGee allowed no earned runs, three hits and no walks over 5 1/3 innings. Sammons got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over seven innings. The Hoggard pitcher struck out five, walked two and surrendered four hits.
Hoggard's Nielson, Lanier and Wilson combined for five hits and six RBIs.
Ashley answered Hoggard's top inning with one run of its own in the first.Ashley scored on a steal of home by Wolfe.
The game's last lead went to Hoggard thanks to a second inning rally that saw six runs cross the plate on an RBI double by Lanier, an error, two singles, and a wild pitch.
One Ashley run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the seventh, making the score 9-2. An RBI single by Brody Curran sparked Ashley's rally. Finally, Sammons got Wolfe to fly out to end the game.
• 5/4 – Ashley 7 Laney 1 - Laney had a tough outing on Friday, as Ashley dominated in a 7-1 win in seven innings at Laney. Ashley scored three runs in the third on an RBI single by Koty Howard, a wild pitch, and a walk by Clayton McGee. Howard racked up four RBIs on three hits for Ashley.
Laney couldn't get anything going as long as McGee was on the mound. Laney managed just one hit off of McGee, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his four innings of work.
Pantelis Miliotis got the win for Ashley. He allowed one run over three innings. Miliotis struck out three, walked one and gave up six hits.
Ashley didn't relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the first inning when it scored on a sacrifice fly by Howard.
Ashley tallied one run in each of the fourth, sixth and seventh. In the fourth,Ashley scored on an RBI single by Howard, scoring Chris Hicks.
