Ashley Screaming Eagles: Cross Country Teams have Good Showing in Scrimmage Meet

The Screaming Eagles Cross Country Teams have a good showing the Annual County Scrimmage Meet held at Hugh McRae Park this past Thursday.
The conditions couldn’t be worse for a Cross Country Meet depending on who you ask. Myself I like a good flooded out course, but probably not the best for your fastest times. Never the less the Eagles Varsity team took to the course looking to show they are still the team to beat in the Mid-Eastern Conference and they did just that. The Boy’s placed 7 kids in the top 13 and had 8 kids run between 17:27-18:54. The Eagles took Spots: 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, and 19. The top 8 Eagles finishers were: 2nd Place Stephen Wilson 17:27, 3rd Place Brien Lancaster 17:28, 6th Place Joe Harty 18:00, 7th Will mayo 18:01, 8th Joesph Harty 18:02, 12th Bryan Veals 18:30, 13th David Flechtner 18:31, and 19th Daniel Lancaster was 18:50. Last year the Eagles had 1 boy at 18:54! The meet was not scored but the Eagles would have ran away with the meet by 17-points over the 2nd place team. The rest of the boys times were: Gray Wilson 20:02 PR, Nathen Mercer 20:38, Chris Avery 21:23, Austin Bailey 21:27, Dylan Merten 22:50, Vaughn Rizzo 23:14, Nick Golonka 23:31, Allen Rodrick 24:37, Trent Hollandsworth 24:43, Loch McDonald 25:42, Dylan Secero 27:20, Marshall Skelton 27:32, Johnathan Kennedy 27:35, Dylan Oxendine 30:41, and Jordan Shapiro 32:51.
On the girls side the fastest Eagle across the line was freshmen Julia Boudreau who finished with the fastest ladies time at Ashley in 2 years 22:12 good enough for 7th Place. This freshmen is sure to keep dropping time throughout the season as the Ladies look to one of the best season in their school history thanks to a large freshmen class and returning class that already knows how to put in the hard work. Another 9th Grader was 2nd for the Eagles with a personnal best time of 24:29, followed by Erica DeSousa 25:18, Jillian Yankey 25:22, Maggie Shibley 25:33, Madison Smith 26:22, Elizabeth Troutwine 26:47, Emily Troutwine 27:09, Bailey Williams 28:11, Erin Heglar 28:52, Hanna Topping 29:20, Meghan Chinn 29:35, Abigail Efting 29:41, Kennsleigh Ables 30:02, and Ashley Merritt 32:15.
