Ashley High School Lady Eagles Varsity Basketball Fall at Home Opener Against 71st

Friday night was the first home game of the season and also the ladies first game without Junior Morgan Davis who tore her ACL in the first game of the season at Topsail.  That is a season ending injury.  (She'll be back next year)  ;-).  The Eagles played a big and fast 71st team that came into our gym and attacked.  We didn't attack back.  We had 13 turnovers in the first half, and gave them extra chances to score, which they took.
Our girls were timid with their shots in the first half, but fought back in the second half when down by as much as 20 points and brought the score within 8.  Unfortunately, it was a little too late with the score ending 50-40.
Felicity Havens led all scorers with 22 points and recorded a double-double by adding 14 rebounds.  The Lady Eagles will have home games on Thursday, December 6th against West Brunswick and Friday, December 7th against Jacksonville. Before traveling to Jack Britt next Tuesday, December 11th.
