Ashley High School's Girl’s Varsity Basketball Re-Cap

Girls fall to West Craven 61-52, but pick up wins over West Brunswick 68-28 & Jacksonville 70-20

• 12/4 – Ashley 52 West Craven 61 – The Lady Eagles and West Craven played a tough game with West Craven coming up with the early 15-14 lead at halftime. However the Ladies were able to take the lead going into halftime 28-25 after outscoring the Vikings 14-10.  After halftime West Craven was able to regain control of the game outscoring the Eagles 19-10, giving them the lead 44-38. The Ladies tried to make a come back in the 4th quarter, but West Craven held on to take the win 61-52.
• 12/6 – Ashley 68 West Brunswick 28 – The Ladies Eagles scored their highest point total in a quarter to start this game with 22, while the defense held them to just 6 points. However in the 2nd quarter West Brunswick was able to slow down Ashley’s scoring but the Eagles were still able to pad 4 more points to their lead now at 36-16. After halftime the Eagles continued to play tough defense holding West Brunsiwck to 4 3rd Quarter points and 8 in the 4th. Meanwhile their offense picked up 32 to take the win 68-28. The Ladies will have been on the road against Jack Britt Tuesday, but have a home game Friday vs. Topsail High School.
• 12/7 – Ashley 70 Jacksonville 20 – The Ladies were just a point off scoring Jacksonville’s total in just the 1st quarter, while the defense allowed just 1 field goal for 2-points. The Ladies didn’t let up on the gas in the 2nd quarter outscoring Jacksonville 16-4 giving them a 36-6 lead. After halftime the Eagles continued to soar, outscoring Jacksonville 18-5 and 16-9 in the 2nd half to take the win 70-20. The Ladies have improved to 3-2 on the season. With the win the Eagles jump to 4-1 on the season.
Next week the Girls will travel to West Brunswick on Tuesday, before a home game against Jack Britt. All the girls’ games start at 6PM.
