Ashley High School's Boy’s Junior Varsity Basketball Re-Cap

Boys on a roll with wins over West Craven 57-54, West Brunswick
67-53, and Jacksonville 55-52

• 12/4 – Ashley 57 West Craven 54 - The West Craven Vikings did not disappoint last night as they showed they are still a state title contending team at the 3A level. The first half was played a a very quick pace and our guys found themselves down by 4 pts at the half.  The second half come back was lead by our Seniors: Clayton McGee, TJ Williams, Trey Eller and Quincey Rhodes, as they decided to dig in and defend, holding West Craven to 6 turnovers on their final 8 possessions of the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter found the Eagles down by 4 until the seniors buckled down once again and refused to lose. The guys held West Craven to 2 made baskets in the final 8 minutes while moving the ball offensively for intelligent shots. We finished the game strong for an exciting 3pt win and moved to 2-1 on the season.
• 12/6 – Ashley 67 West Brunswick 53 - The Varsity Men were victorious last night over a very solid West Brunswick team. West Brunswick is a well-coached team with very capable perimeter players and entered the contest with only 1 loss on the season.  The Eagles played very unselfish, moving the basketball effectively and slowing the West Brunswick offense to their lowest score of the season. The defense set the tone early by holding WB to 4 points and building a lead we would keep for the remainder of the game.
All 13 players saw action in the contest before the 4th quarter, and tonight's home game vs. Jacksonville will require the same team effort as the Eagles play their 4th game in 7 days.
• 12/7 – Ashley 55 Jacksonville 52 – The Eagles had their hands full with a tough 3A Jacksonville team at home this past Friday Night. The Cardinals have already defeated Hoggard 61-58 at home and Laney on the road 68-67. The Eagles were able to be the 1st team from Wilmington to beat them in a close one 55-52.
Next week the Boys will travel to West Brunswick on Tuesday, before a home game against Jack Britt. All the boys’ games start at 7:30PM.
