Ashley Lady Eagles Varsity Basketball Team pick up win over New Hanover 40-31:Eagles will travel New Bern this Thursday

• 1/12 – Ashley 40 New Hanover 31 – Despite being down 2 players to injuries the Eagles still were able to pick up the win against a tough New Hanover team this past Friday night in front of a pack home crowd.
The Ladies got off to a slow start finding them selves down after the 1st quarter 9-8. New Hanover was able to go up by as many as 3 in the 2nd quarter before the Ladies went on a 14-0 run, thanks to some big turnovers to take the lead for good 22-15 by halftime. The Eagles let the Wild Cats get to as close as 2-points in the 3rd Quarter before Coach Gale got her team settled down and they went on a 8-0 run to take a 10-point lead. After the 3rd quarter the Ladies were up 32-22. In the final quarter the Eagles were able to hold off the Wild Cats final run to take the win 40-31. As a team the Ladies had 23 steals, 23 rebounds, and 2 blocks, shot 39.5% from the field and 55% from the free throw line. HIGHLIGHTS: Felecity Havens had 19-points, shot 57.1% from the field, 3 for 4 from the free throw line, 4 rebounds, a assist, a block and 5 steals; Kaili Rich had 5-points, a block, 5 steals, 3 rebounds and was 3 for 6 from the free throw line; Breanna Edwards had 5-points, had 6 rebounds and 3 steals; Chyna Cotton was 2 for 4 from the field had 2 rebounds and a steal; Jada Bacchus 2-points, 4 rebounds, and 6 steals; Braelyn Little 2-points, 2 steals, 2 assists and was 2 for 2 from the free throw line; Brittney Butts had 2-points and 2 rebounds; and Jamie Durham had 2-points, and a steal; Taylor Davis had a rebound.
