Ashley High School Varsity Boy’s Basketball Team stay tied for 1st Place after their win over New Bern 42-37

Boy’s Play Hoggard for 1st Place at Home Friday

• 1/17 - The Screaming Eagles Boys Varsity Basketball team took their final bus ride to New Bern’s gym (New Bern is leaving the Mid-Eastern Conference next Year) this past Thursday Night and was able to quickly run away with the game. The Eagles defense was unforgiving in the 1st half allowing New Bern just 6-points in each quarter. Meanwhile their offense picked up only 8 in the 1st quarter and 12 in the 2nd to take a 9-point lead into the halftime break 20-12. After halftime the Eagles continued to pull away pulling their lead up to double digits going into the 4th quarter 34-23. In the %final quarter the Eagles rested some of their starters allowing New Bern to get closer, but in the end the Eagles were able to hold on and win by a final score of 42-37. The Eagles were 2 for 3 from the free throw line, and did all their scoring from inside the 3-point line. HIGHLIGHTS: Trey Eller 10-points and 3 rebounds; T.J. Williams 8-points, 7 rebounds, a assist and 3 blocks; Tyree Gathright 8-points, 2 rebounds and a assist; Tony Mack 4-points, 2 rebounds, a steal and a assist; Riddell Camidge 4-points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal; Frankie Keller 4-points and 3 rebounds; P.J. Brown 2-points, a assist and a rebound; Alex Prindable 2-points and a steal; Clayton McGee had 5 rebounds, 3 steals and a assist; Quincy Rhodes had 2 rebounds.
