Ashley Varsity Baseball Team bounce back after 9-4 loss to New Hanover with 4-2 win of New Bern

Eagles have 2 games left in the Regular Season and remain in 2nd Place

• 4/23 – Ashley 4 New Hanover 9 - The Ashley baseball team rolled into Legion Stadium with one thing in mind on Tuesday-- win a key conference game against New Hanover and increase our chances of a good playoff seed.  Unfortunately, that was not meant to be, as the Eagles faltered after one TERRIBLE inning. Ashley fell behind early, by a score of 2-0 after the first inning. We then plated 2 in the 4th and 1 in the 5th to take a 3-2 lead.  It was short-lived, however, as New Hanover scored SEVEN runs in the bottom of the 5th after Matt Davis had retired the first 2 batters. Mental mistakes took their toll on our team throughout the game, and if two plays are made correctly, the score would have been much better for us!!!  We are now 12-6 overall, 4-3 in the Mideastern Conference. We travel to New Bern for a HUGE game on Friday at 6 PM.
• 4/27 – Ashley 4 Laney 2 - The Ashley baseball team traveled to New Bern on Friday night for a pivotal Mideastern conference matchup.  Ashley would score all they needed in the fourth inning, as we posted 4 runs in the frame.  We had to make it interesting, of course, by walking the first 4 batters in the bottom of the seventh with no outs, putting the winning run on first.  But Matt Davis struck out the next 2 batters and then coaxed a pop-up to William Noxon for the last out of the game.
The final score ended up being 4-2.  Sam Cavanaugh picked up the win on the mound, striking out 5.  Dakota Perryman and Brody Curran each collected 2 hits for the Eagles.  Now we fight for playoff seeding this week, as we get to try and spoil 2 Senior Nights-- one at Hoggard on Tuesday at 6PM, and then again on Friday at Laney.
