Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Team crush New Hanover 13-0, but fall to New Bern 7-2 at home will be battling for 1st Place Thursday

• 4/23 Ashley 13 New Hanover 0 – The Lady Eagles sweep the New Hanover Wild Cats this season outscoring them 28-0 this season in 2 games. Both teams got off to a slow start after a scoreless 1st inning however. In the 2nd inning the Ladies posted a impressive 9 runs. The Ladies continued to pull away after that scoring 3 more in the 3rd and another in the 4th. This game would end in the 5th inning by a final score of 13-0. HIGHLIGHTS: Aliza Hollemon was 1 for 1 with a run and a RBI; Taylor Carter was 3 for 4 with 2 runs; J. Stergakos had 2 runs; Sarah Horrell went 1 for 3 with a run and a RBI; Kaitlyn Adams was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs a a pair of RBI’s thanks to a double; Jordan Floyd was 1 for 4 with a run; Jordan Parker had a run; Bailey Williams was 2 for 4 with a run and 3 RBI’s; and Schae Dickson went 2 for 4 with a pair of runs, and 2 RBI’s after a double. Pitching was flawless as Sarah Horell gave up just 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5 to get here Complete Game.
• 4/25 Ashley 2 New Bern 7 – The Ladies had their hands full with New Bern at home this past Thursday night. After taking a early 1-0 lead after the bottom of the 1st inning the Ladies allowed New Bern to turn around a tie up the game at 1-1 in the top of the 2nd inning. The Ladies were able to again take the lead after adding another run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Ladies were able to hold the 2-1 lead until New Bern tied it up again in the top of the 5th inning. However the worst was to come for the Lady Eagles as they allowed 5 runs for their 1st time in conference play. The Ladies had 6 more outs but could cut into the 5 run deficit giving the ladies there 1st lose in quite sometime. They are now tied for 1st Place in the Conference with Laney and will face them in their final game of the season next Thursday. If the Ladies beat Hoggard on Tuesday then the Thursday game will decide 1st Place in the Regular Season.
