Joely Smith, a senior at Ashley High School, also participated in the recent commitment signing at the school. She signed with Hawaii Pacific University for a new sport evolving acrobatics and tumbling. She was a power tumbler for John Casey at the Tumble Gym in Carolina Beach, and is a competitive cheerleader at Cheer Infinity Allstars of Wilmington, along with cheering for Ashley High School.
While acrobatics and tumbling is in its infancy, there are now some colleges that consider them as a sport. With them being considered as a sport the schools are offering scholarships. These changes are now opening up new doors for young ladies with gymnastic and cheer backgrounds for scholarships.Congratulations to Joely, and great success to come your way.
