Ashley High School Lady Eagles stay perfect in Conference Play after win over Laney

• 1/8 – Ashley 48 Clinton 49 - The Lady Eagles Varsity Basketball team suffered a close loss on the road this past Monday at the hands of Clinton High School. After a good start to the 1st quarter the Ladies had a 5-point lead 8-3 and were playing tough defense. In the 2nd quarter they started to allow Clinton to take a point off their lead going into halftime with the score now at 12-8. After halftime the Ladies started to fall apart and allowed Clinton 13-points while their offense only picked 13-points, while holding Ashley to 6 giving them the lead 21-20. In the final position the Eagles offense really picked up the pace scoring 19, but they couldn’t slow down Clinton as they scored 18 sending the game into overtime. In overtime both teams continued trading baskets and the lead, but Clinton was able to take the 1-point win 49-48.
• Ashley 43 Laney 34 – After a 6-6 1st quarter the Ladies were able to take a 2-point lead over their cross-town rivals going into halftime 19-17. After halftime the Ladies offense got hot and scored 17-points, while holding Laney to just 8-points giving them a 36-25 lead. In the final quarter Lane’s attempt to come back was held up by the Eagles tough defense and the Ladies were able to remain undefeated in Conference Play with the 43-34 win. HIGHLIGHT:  Felecity Havens 17-points, 2 steals, 4 assists, 2 rebounds; Morgan Davis 5-points, 2 blocks, 3 assists, 9 rebounds; Chyna Cotton 6-points on 4 for 5 from the field, 7 rebounds; Taylor Butts 8-points on 4 for 5 from the field, 1 steal, 2 assists and 2 rebounds; Kaill Rich 1 block, 2 steals, 1 assist and 5 rebounds; Carly Higgins 5-points; and Dana Craig had a rebound.
