2014 Youth Basketball League Enters there 5th Week of Play

12-14 Age Division
• Costco vs. Michael’s Seafood – Undefeated Costco got off to a great start this past Thursday taking a 11-point lead after the 1st quarter 11-5. Costco continued to run away in the 2nd quarter after outscoring Michael’s Seafood 14-3 giving them a 30-8 halftime lead. After halftime Michaels was able to cut into Costco’s lead after outscoring them in both quarters. However Costco keep the lead at 10 b the end of the game winning by a final score of 44-34. HIGHLIGHTS: Costco: #12 Kevin Mintz 10, #11 Rocco Farmintino 7, #13 Jacob Hardison 6, #14 Vinny Farmintino, #1 Bradley Plyler and #10 Fisher Wagget 5 each, #4 Brandon Plyler 4, and #3 Aidan Lafferty 2. Michael’s Seafood: #14 Tyler Tranchon and #3 Matt Heglar each had 8-points, #2 Austin Johnson and #10 Ethan Graves each had 6, #4 Dimitrus Weakley 4, and #15 Davis Wagner 2.
• Superior Medical vs. American Legion – Every point counted in this close game. In the 1st quarter the American Legion team was able to take a 7-3 lead. After another close quarter the American Legion was able to gain another hard earned point over Superior giving them a 5-point halftime lead 16-11. After halftime Superior’s defense was able to hold the American Legion team to no field goals and just 3-points. Meanwhile their offense picked up 8-points and tied up the game at 19-19. Neither team gave up in the final quarter, but at the final buzzer Superior was able to take a 2-point lead and the win 33-31. HIGHLIGHTS: American Legion: #12 Kyle Carpenter 12, #3 Elijah Akins 8, #5 Lucas Wilson 6, #13 Ryan Bailey 4. Superior Medical: 314 Jacob Reeves 11, #11 Josh Stewart 10, #10 Nicholas Burghardt 6, and #4 Nick Reeves, #13 Thomas Blankenbeckler and #1 Jake Stewart each had 2-points.
15-17 Age Division
• Blackburn Brothers vs. CBPD – After a 12-12 1st quarter the Blackburn Brothers was able to turn up their defense and held the CBPD to just 4-points. Meanwhile their offense picked up 10-points, which gave them a 6-point lead at halftime 22-16. Blackburn Brother’s offense exploded in the 3rd quarter picking up 19-points and after their defense allowed just 6-points their lead jumped up to 19-points going into the 4th quarter. Blackburn continued to run up the score in the 4th quarter winning by a final score of 62-31. HIGHLIGHTS: Blackburn Brothers: #11 Donovan Frances 15, #3 Justin Blackburn 13, #5 Kyle Dowling, #1 Jake Trafton, and #14 Justin Blackburn 8-points each, #2 Michael Fasano 4, and #12 Brice Eller 3. CBPD: #10 William Noxon 14, #1 Michael Gotto 10, #14 Braelyn Little 5, and #12 Ra’Shawn Anglin 2.
• Allied Pest Control vs. Hamm Hearing Aids – This was another close game, with Allied taking a 2-point lead after the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter both teams’ defenses’ stepped up and held each other too just 6-points, bringing the score to 22-20 by halftime. After halftime Hamm Hearing picked up some big 3-pointers and were able to tie up the game at 30-30. In the final quarter both teams continued trading baskets, but in the end a 3-pointer from Allied’s Jacob Graves proved to be the game winner. Allied won by a final score of 43-41. HIGHLIGHTS: allied Pest Control: #14 Josh Johnson 20, #4 Daniel Farriss 14, #11 Jacob Graves 3, and #13 nick Winslow, #1 Sean Anderson and #10 Thomas each had 2-points. Hamm Hearing Aids: #5 Dustin Hancock 16, #3 Nash Best 14, #12 Ryan Hardison 6, and #4 Scott Best 5.
6-8 Age Division
• Carolina Beach Realty vs. PI Exercise Club – PI Exercise Club got off to a good start in this game after going on a 4-0 run throughout the 1st quarter. However in the 2nd quarter Carolina Beach Realty quickly erased the 4-points from the previous quarter and added 5-points to their lead after outscoring Pi Exercise Club 9-0 in the 2nd quarter. After halftime both teams were unable to score a basket on the other teams defense in the 3rd quarter, until Chan Dozier hit the only basket for PI Exercise Club. However Carolina Beach Realty added 6 more points to their lead in the 4th quarter winning by a final score of 15-6. HIGHLIGHTS: Carolina Beach Realty: Terrell Parker 7, #4 Srah Martin 4, and #12 Ben Taft and #11 Josh Gaskell 2-points. PI Exercise Club: #14  Chan Dozier, #11 William Griffen, and #13 Silas Jackson each had 2-points.
• Island Montessori School vs. Lazy Pirate – After a 2-2 1st quarter The Lazy Pirate went on a 4-0 run in the 2nd to take a 4-point lead into the halftime break 6-2. After halftime Lazy Pirate outscored Island Montessori School 7-1 giving them a 10-point lead by the end of the quarter 13-3. In the final quarter Lazy Pirate added another 2-points to their lead after a Isiah Hunter basket giving them the win 17=3. HIGHLGIHTS: Lazy Pirate: #1 Isaiah Hunter 8, #14 Carter Grace 5, and #10 Owen Morini 4. Island Montessori School: #14 Brian Graybush 2 and #13 Keaton Green 1.
• CBPD vs. Island Tackle & Hardware – The CBPD’s defense held Island Tackle scoreless in the 1st half while their offense picked up 4 in the 1st quarter and 3 in the 2nd. After halftime the CBPD just continued to pull away from Island Tackle after outscoring them 9-4 in the 3rd quarter and 4-0 in the 4th giving them the win 20-6. HIGHLIGHTS: CBPD: #12 Kendall Marcucelli 8, #5 Jayce Atanasoff 6, 31 Talan Groseclose 5, and #4 Alaina 1. Island Tackle & Hardware: #14 Blaine Mays 4 and #4 Alex Testori 2.
9-11 Age Division
• El Cazador vs. Mid Atlantic Drilling – El Cazador was able to jump out to a much need 7-point lead after the 1st quarter after their offense picked up 9-points. In the 2nd quarter El Cazador was able to continue to run up the score outscoring Mid Atlantic 8-4 in the 2nd quarter giving them a 17-6 halftime lead. After halftime Mid Atlantic Drilling was able to make a come back getting to within 6-points by the end of the 3rd quarter 18-12. In the final quarter Mid Atlantic Drilling was able to get to within a basket of El Cazador at the final buzzer 20-18. HIGHLIGHTS: El Cazador: #4 Cayne Doss and #3 Jacob Lamkin 5-points each, #11 Winston Davis and #14 Brayden West 3-points each, and #2 Nick Verne and #13 Kostya Gilman 2-points each. Mid Atlantic Drilling: #5 Dwight Best, #13 Alyssa Fizer, and #2 Jas Herring 4-points each and #3 Seanan Darakjy and #10 Nate Milin 3-points each.
• Nikki’s Gourmet & Sushi vs. CloudWyze –Nikki’s started off the game with their offense adding 14-points to the scoreboard in the 1st quarter, meanwhile their defense allowed just 6-points. However in the 2nd quarter Cloudwyze was able to climb back into the game getting to within 3-points of Nikki’s before halftime after a 10-5 2nd quarter. After halftime Cloudwyze began to turn things around and took a 5-point lead by the end of the quarter 27-22. In the final quarter Cloudwyze was able to get their lead to 10-points by the end of the game 36-26. HIGHLIGHTS: Nikki’s Gourmet & Sushi: #3 Kyler Schoonmaker 11, #2 Coleman Lamendola 6, #5 Ben Testori 4, #1 Nic Lamendola 2-points each, and #12 Brynn Little 1. Cloudwyze: #12 Robbie Helmus 11, #10 Neil Sims 8, #1 Brady Spratley 7, #3 Trey Johnson 5, #5 Kenan Everhart 4 and #13 Jared Becjen 1.
• Kure Beach Pier vs. CB Subway – After a close 7-4 1st quarter Subway was able to extend their lead to 10-points by halftime 18-8. After halftime Subway continued to pull away, outscoring Kure Beach Pier 10-5 in the 3rd quarter and 9-4 in the 4th quarter to take the win 37-17. HIGHLIGHTS: Kure Beach Pier: #11 Maddox Greene 5, #14 Justin Miles and #5 Owen Davis 4-points each, #10 Patrick Furbay and #13 Mason Johnson 2-points each. CB Subway:  #2 Harry Smirth-Martin and #14 Dion Wallace 9-points each, #10 Leo Baggie 6, #3 Jacob Baugher and #12 Joseph Stagner 4-points each, #1 Sean LaChance 3, and #5 Jacob Gaskell and #11 Jacob Allard 1-point each.
• CB Downtown vs. Hines Senior Center – Hines Senior Center got off to a great start in this game taking a 8-0 lead after the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter Hines Senior Center was able to ectend their lead to 11-points by halftime 13-2 after outscoring CBDI 5-2. After halftime CBDI was able to cut the lead to 9-points 17-8 after outscoring Hines Senior Center 6-4. However in the final quarter Hines Senior Center was able to close out the game on a 7-2 run to take the win 24-10. HIGHLIGHTS: Hines Senior Center: #10 Jackson Kupec 6, #14 Cathryn Paquet 5, #2 Dominic Farmintino 4, #1 Taj Monroe 3, #12 Mason Massey, @3 Christian Merten and #11 Nathan Hardison 2-points each. CB Downtown Initiative: #11 Jadon Morini 6 and #5 Nicolas Ruscetti 4.

In the 15-17 Age Division The CBPD suffered their 1st loss of the season against Blackburn Brothers.
