The 4,600 square foot concrete park will cost a little over $200,000.00. The original location was next to Town Hall, but adjacent residents protested that location citing concerns of noise pollution. The new park will be fenced in with restricted hours of operation. | |||||||||

Several adjacent Assembly Ave property owners opposed the project. The Federal Aviation Administration denied the Town of Kure Beach’s request saying it was too tall and close to FAA radar site on Davis Road and would interfere with the navigational aid used by pilots. The FAA eventually eased their stance and the Town got permission to proceed with construction. | |||||||||
